Fame passes 'Boiling Point'

THE FAME ROAD Party - 'Boiling Point' far exceeded 100 Degrees Celsius last Saturday night at the Fayor's Entertainment Centre in Mandeville.

The party was the first of the year for the FAME team and if things remain this way for the rest of the year then party fanatics have a lot to look forward to.

The event was overwhelmingly pleasing and the number that turned out to be 'boiled with entertainment' spoke volumes. At midnight the venue was crowded and there was hardly any space to manoeuvre, yet persons continued to pour in.

The soca songs that ruled the party at this time did not seem to move the patrons much. However, the Fame DJs turned it up a notch with Beenie Man's World Dance.

The spicy addition of hype dancehall music that followed seemed to have loosened some muscles in the waist region for many of the patrons as the levels of gyration reached fever pitch. Each selection 'dropped' by Mix Master Marvin at this time was met with a eager response.

With 'The Captain' Colin Hines also present, both worked the turntables to a frenzy with dancehall selections from the early and mid-90s. They manoeuvred the music machine skilfully as they skipped through the various genres. But they did not realize 'boiling' reactions again until they unleashed the Military Rhythm. Assassin, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and to a greater extent Sizzla Kolongi's efforts on the rhythm packed a heavy punch as these selections had the patrons roaring, screaming and lighting the night sky with lighters.

Every selection played by the disc jocks that featured Sizzla's voice was met with deafening roars. The Hardtimes Rhythm also did its fair share in terms of raising the heat. However, the song that realized the biggest forward for the night and seemed to exceed the 'boiling point' by about four, was Turbulence's Notorious, which had to be pulled up a few times.

The Hardcopy Models, who were modeling the FAME Frat wear, were also on hand and did their fair share in raising temperatures, as did some jubilant members of the FAME team who were on-stage keeping up with a bit of antics.

Even at 3:00 a.m. when the party seemed to have simmered down for a few patrons who began making their way to the exit, several others were just coming in. It was just a little before this that the FAME selectors were released from playing edited selections as they were no longer live on air.

The party boiled well into the wee hours of the morning when patrons, seemingly satisfied that their $600 entry fee was fully exhausted began making their way to the exit.
