SPARINGLY-USED jockey Michael Dixon, who has not won a race in too many years to recall, has been handed a gift aboard PROCEEDACCORDINGLY in Race Four of the Cayamanas Track Limited Claiming Series.
Set for a mile tomorrow afternoon, the event is open to runners who recently competed on tags of $170,000. PROCEEDACCORDINGLY, who ran a brave race on a $210,000 tag on Saturday last, was a 22-length winner on a $170,000 ticket three Saturdays ago and has been slipped into the event by trainer Lawrence Freemantle, hoping to pull off the gamble with Dixon.
PROCEEDACCORDINGLY actually went off as second-choice at odds of 8-5 on Saturday and turned for home amid a wall of horses chasing SAMMY MY GIRL. However, the pace took its toll on the nine-year-old gelding and he weakened into fourth a furlong out before finishing fifth in the 1400-metre event.
Back to his happy hunting ground, fit PROCEEDACCORDINGLY should use his form to shake loose of rivals down the backstretch and power home in the stretch run. SILVER WEDDING, LADY KAMPOOR and BUTCHER MAN are all fit runners, who will be coming all out but PROCEEDACCORDINGLY won like an out-of-class horse when last at the level and should not be opposed even with Dixon aboard.
Jackpots at $1.5m
ALL FOR PLEASURE at 14-1 plus the 8-1 pair of SHE'S A MAVERICK and RIZZI LEE sent Pick-9 bettors packing on Saturday. The closest Pick-9 players got was six of nine, sending the jackpot back to its minimum guarantee of $1m.
However, the Super-Six was nabbed with two winning tickets each reaping $350,047.50. With only nine races scheduled tomorrow, bankers again hold the key to cracking the Pick-9. Wayne DaCosta's DON'T STAY NAKED has really looked improved at exercise and should get off the mark in the 1600-metre second race for three-year-old Maidens. The chestnut gelding was noted making late headway at 1200 metres on debut when beaten into fourth by RESTORIA'S SECRET and returns treated with lasix.
Since his April 2 debut, DON'T STAY NAKED has beaten the likes of HEARTOFAMAVERICK at exercise and has kept pace with American-bred stablemate SWEET SURVIVOR, clocking 1:07.3 for 1100 metres.
HIGH CHASE also appears to be a good thing in the second at 1800 metres, having finished ahead of her main rivals in recent races.
Champion jockey Trevor Simpson is back from suspension and should immediately return to the winners' enclosure astride Dwight Chen's UNCLE D & ME, who debuts in the 1000-metre straight fourth race for three-year-old colts and geldings.
Track Price Plus Pick-6 players should bank on Philip Feanny's DIESEL to close his hat-trick in the sixth at 1100 metres as well as QUIZAS ORO to get off the mark in the seventh at 1500 metres.
