Scared to visit Jamaican lover

Dear Pastor,

I am from the United States of America and was with a Jamaican for five and a half years. Actually, he just did 15 months in prison in America and he was deported to Jamaica.

It is the first time he has been in Jamaica after 7 years. He landed on the last day of June and I arrived on July first of last year. We spent a lot of time together and had a lot of fun.

When I returned to America I started having a host of problems with him. So much drama was going on with him in Jamaica and people's jealousy. I got so mad that I turned my back on him in October.

Last year there was so much bad luck in Jamaica. I have a ten-year-old whose father died and was buried in September of last year. I also have two other children with another man who was also buried in December of that same year. God bless them both.

Now I am afraid to return to Jamaica. I want to go and visit my boyfriend and talk to him very soon but it is so dangerous in Kingston right now.

I miss him so much; I can't go on without him. I need some serious mental help. We were so close. Help!

Y. L

Dear Y. L,

If you are interested in visiting this young man in Jamaica, you should do so. I don't believe that you should allow what people have said to deter you from coming to Jamaica.

And, concerning the fear you have about crime in the city of Kingston, don't allow that to prevent you from visiting this beautiful country. You would just have to be as careful in the same way as you are in your own country.

If you are in love with this man and he is not going to be able to return to America to live, would you live in Jamaica with him? Are you willing to take this plunge?

You have a big decision to make. Consider the matter well. Seek some advice before you make your decision.

Pastor
