The family dog EggLynn with half of her fruit that she normally eats after breakfast. - Claire Clarke
YESTERDAY I WAS talking to My Friend P about the family dog EggLynn. EggLynn came up as a topic because last week at the office, we got to talking about health consciousness and I brought up the family dog EggLynn who is a fruit lover and a partial vegetarian. EggLynn takes healthy eating seriously. My co-workers well not all refused to believe.
Before we get into the details of EggLynn's incredible keep-fit-stay-slim-look-young-and-spritely, diet, I must give you a little history about EggLynn the dog. Now, one co-worker spent much time ridiculing EggLynn's name more than anything else 'What kind a name dat' she asked. I think it is just a beautiful name for all of you out there interested in using this as the name for your next daughter please remember, she is a Jamaican dog but her name is not pronounced 'H-eggLynn'.
I went home to check the family archives on the origin and meaning of EggLynn's name and sure enough there was a simple explanation. When EggLynn was born, her now golden brown coat appeared golden yellow like the yolk of an egg. The youngest member of the family noted this resemblance and voila EggLynn!
And so EggLynn means: Pure and fresh (I guess like a good egg yolk).
Fruits and vegetables
Anyway, back to EggLynn's diet. EggLynn eats fruits, like oranges, tangerines, papaya (which she picks off the trees herself) drinks water coconuts (which she is known to husk) and eats a variety of vegetables, which she paw-picks for herself. Some of my co-workers have been fortunate enough to witness EggLynn so delicately and efficiently peg down an orange, leaving the inner skin so clean and perfect that you could drink soup from it.
You know, I have heard of so many my goodness so many, many people who have taken to this no- carb diet in desperate attempts to lose weight. Just think how smart and way advanced our family dog EggLynn is, she essentially has been practising a no carb diet all her life. And it has done her lean frame well.
I have been told [in ridicule] to do a video tape of EggLynn's orange-eating habit and send it to that pet show that they have in the states. Look man, EggLynn is not any poppyshow dog and as a legitimate member of the family she will not be made into a sideshow either. You want to see EggLynn eat oranges then pass by the farm. If not, then just believe me, I have never lied to you before certainly not in this column. I swear, on EggLynn's last orange.
