BLACK RIVER
A KINGSTON WOMAN accused of forgery was jailed in St. Elizabeth recently.
She is Trudy Martin, 29, of Crighton Avenue, Kingston 13, who is charged with forgery, uttering forged cheque and obtaining goods by forged cheque.
She appeared in the Black River Resident Magistrates' court before RM Marlene Malahoo-Forte and was remanded in custody until May 12.
Allegations are that on Saturday, April 16, Martin went to Junction Building Depot in St. Elizabeth with a truck, a driver and a sideman.
Tendered invoice
She tendered an invoice for goods amounting to $453,141 and also a manager's cheque payable for the amount. The manager's cheque was allegedly drawn on the National Commercial Bank in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth.
When she tendered the cheque, the cashier became suspicious and summoned the Junction police. She was taken into custody and after investigations, she was arrested and charged.
