Family wants me to give cheating man a chance

DEAR PASTOR,

I am writing you because I am in need of your help. I am working and going to college. I have been with my boyfriend since I was in high school. However he left for college. Everything was going well until I realised that he would call twice a week. That was very weird to me because he would always call no matter what the situation was.

Anyway, I found out that he was cheating on me for a couple weeks with some other girl that goes to the same college. I broke up with him, and ever since he has been trying to talk back to me. My mom and my whole family like him a lot, and they think that I should give him another chance. I really do not want history to repeat itself.

Could you please give me your fatherly advice? Thanks and may God bless you.

Dear B.,

It is not your family who would be living with this man. It is you and you know what you are feeling right now. If you want to forgive him and give him a chance, it is up to you. I hope that if you renew the relationship with him, he would not let you down. Remember, however, that you are far away from him and you cannot be sure what is going on between him and the woman who attends the same institution with him.

I don't want to put negative thoughts in your mind, but I am sure you would appreciate the truth. What has he decided to do with this other girl? What is he going to tell her now? You have my prayers, my dear.
