Ex-cop held in stolen vehicle

AN EX-POLICE officer and another man were held in connection with a stolen motor vehicle over the weekend.

Omar Durrant, 27, an ex-constable, and Wayne Castle, 39, a labourer, both of Harbour Street, St. Catherine, were travelling in a Honda motor vehicle along the Greenvale Road, Mandeville, Manchester, on Saturday, June 18, when they were stopped by the police.

When the vehicle was searched, a police reflector vest, a bullet proof vest, a forage cap, a red seam pants and a regulator belt were found. Durrant presented the back of a police I.D. card with his licence covering the photo which was found to be false.

According to an officer at the Mandeville police, the car has not yet been proven to be stolen "because the necessary tests are not complete", but the car was not licensed or insured. The two have been arrested on reasonable suspicion and are to be charged pending investigations.
