A GOOD NUMBER of reggae acts and other Caribbean artistes will head off to the United States on its July 4, Indepenedence Day holiday.
This weekend, Mutabaruka, Third World, Calypso Rose, Malik Yusef and others will perform at the 13th Annual African/ Caribbean International Festival of Life. The festival will run from today to Monday, July 4 in Chicago.
The show will also feature Beenie Man, gospel act Darius Brooks and G.T. Taylor, along with GT Aggregation Sound System.
The Festival of Life is an annual family event promoted to tie the Caribbean, African, and European culture together. It is put on by the Martins Interculture Awards, with this year's theme being 'Living Together as One'.
Tsunami album set to released
COME JULY A 'TSUNAMI' album which features a set of local artistes will be released for world-wide distribution this month.
The album will be released by Icy Cold Records and distributed by K.E.S. Distribution. It will feature acts like Septakan, the son of Judy Mowatt, Freddie McGregor's daughter Yashemabeth, as well as his son Chino. Also on the mix are Vybz Kartel, CeCile, TOK, Yami Bolo, and others.
It is touted for full saturation in the international markets, with a college tour planned as well by the promoters.
Icy Cold Records is a New York-based music entertainment group which comprises three labels under its umbrella. They are set to release Yashemabeth's album A New State of Mind later this year.
