Senior begs for sentence

By RASBERT TURNER, Star Writer

spanish town

A 40-YEAR-OLD MAN who begged a Resident Magistrate to sentence him, as he was tired of taking cocaine, was rewarded with a 30-day prison term.

Michael Lindo, a labourer from Old Harbour, St. Catherine, appeared in the Spanish Town RM Court recently, charged with possession of crack/cocaine. He pleaded guilty.

The court learnt that on June 29, at about 7 p.m., the Old Harbour police saw Lindo acting suspiciously in the town. He was searched and a small quantity of crack/cocaine was found in his possession. He was arrested.

"Yes maam, mi guilty and a di best mi ever feel from mi a tek cocaine, since the police dem lock mi up. Mi a beg yuh a sentence dat mi can get rid of di cocaine habit," Lindo pleaded with RM Carol Edwards in the court.

After enquiring from the arresting officer if Lindo is a known drug addict and she was told yes, he was sentenced.
