Daphne Grant was remanded in custody while the minor, who lives in Portmore, St. Catherine, was granted $100,000 bail when they appeared before Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle on Wednesday.
According to court documents, the youngster was about to board a flight to the Bahamas when his luggage was searched and ganja was found. The investigations revealed that the youngster had allegedly received the suitcase from Grant, who was once involved in a relationship with his father. The court was told that Grant had received it from a man.
When the matter came up for mention in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, the court was told that the youngster was travelling abroad for the first time and was not related to Grant. He was subsequently granted bail. Grant was, however, remanded.
They are booked to appear in court today when the matter will again be mentioned.
