What a laughable justice system!

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Something is radically wrong with our justice system where (as reported in THE STAR) a man who forced himself onto his brother's girlfriend, ripping her underwear, was slapped with the (serious) charge of malicious destruction of property.

Malicious destruction of property!! How laughable (but not funny). This seems more like an offence of attempted rape to me. I would sure like to know what constitutes the offence of attempted rape.

In keeping with what is becoming the norm in our courts, I will not be surprised that the complainant will tell the judge that she no longer wishes to pursue the matter. Sad but true.
