MICHAEL ANTHONY LAOE, the man charged in connection with the dousing of his wife with acid at the Constant Spring Tax Office in St Andrew, is to face preliminary enquiry on August 24.
The case was again mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle also ordered that Laoe be remanded in custody until the preliminary enquiry.
The police are alleging that Laoe had a hand in an incident on June 10 when his wife was burnt with acid. The woman was said to have suffered third degree burns to 40 per cent of her body and died recently after spending several weeks in hospital.
Allegations are that on June 10 at about 8:30 a.m., the complainant was doused with acid after coming off a bus and entering the compound of the Constant Spring Tax Office.
The woman, who is originally from Portland, was badly burnt and the man who allegedly doused her was chased and beaten to death by a mob.
Laoe is now facing a murder charge since his wife died. He was previously facing charges of aiding and abetting and conspiracy to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
