Cop shot, patrol car damaged

GUNMEN SHOT A police constable and damaged a patrol car on Tuesday night when they opened fire on the car on Paradise Street in Kingston 16.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that the constable, attached to the Kingston Eastern Division, was a member of a mobile patrol team working in the area.

At about 10:20 p.m. two gunmen fired on the officers hitting the constable in his left hand and also damaging the windscreen of the vehicle. The police returned fire but the gunmen escaped into the Manley Meadows area.

The officer was treated at the Kingston Public Hospital and released. The Kingston Eastern police are investigating.
