Braeton man charged with stepson's murder

By DEVON EVANS, STAR Writer

A TRIP FROM Braeton, St. Catherine to Ocho Rios, St. Ann Tuesday by a man and his two stepsons did not have the planned happy ending.

Instead of the man and his two stepsons meeting his girlfriend, who is also the children's mother, having a good time and returning home, one of the stepsons ended up in a morgue and the stepfather in police custody on a murder charge.

Omarie Walker, 18, from Braeton, was stabbed to death during an alercation with his stepfather. Charged with murder is Allan Maxwell, 43, a labourer from Braeton.

Police say the three were travelling to Ocho Rios shortly after mid-day, when an argument developed between Maxwell and Walker. During the dispute Walker picked up a stone and threatened to hit Maxwell.

A knife was used to stab Walker, who was taken to hospital, but pronounced dead.
