Travel consultant granted bail

A TRAVEL CONSULTANT was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 with one or two sureties, and ordered to surrender her travel documents, when she appeared in the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court recently, to answer to six counts of fraudulent conversions.

She is Ideria 'Gayle' Scott, 26, of Waugh Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon.

Allegations against Scott are that she failed to repay several of her customers for airline tickets paid to her, to travel to the United States of America during the month of July.

These persons claimed that when they arrived at the airport and tendered their travel documents, they were informed that their seats were reserved but not paid for. Attempts to retrieve their money have proven futile.

A report was made to the May Pen CIB on August 5 and Scott was arrested and charged for fraudulent conversion. Of the ten expected report of fraud against Scott, only six persons have so far come forward.

Scott is booked to reappear in court on September 25, when her matter will again be mentioned.
