Nicholas McCreath - file
BANK OF NOVA Scotia (BNS) defeated Petrojam 3-1 and Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) scored a 3-0 victory over National Housing Trust (NHT) to reach the Division Two final of the 2005 KSAFA Business House football competition on Wednesday.
Cautious start
BNS, who had previously been defeated by Petrojam twice this season, started the match cautiously and were one goal down in the 10th minute. A cross by Anthony Gordon from the right flank found Aphas Bernard unmarked in the six-yard box and the latter beat Joseph Sardath in goal for BNS.
BNS got the equaliser in the 29th minute when Ludrick Leith latched on to a pass from Nicholas McCreath and scored. Missed chances by Leith, McCreath and Ryan Clarke and also stout defending by Petrojam kept the score at 1-1 at half-time.
The bankers started the second half on the attack and they scored their second goal when McCreath beat three defenders and back-heeled to Leith who scored a thunderous kick from 25 yards past goalkeeper Sheldon Simmons of Petrojam.
McCreath completed the scoring in the 75th minute when he dismissed two defenders and rifled a shot into the roof of the net. JNBS had things their own way in the semi-finals at the NWC playing field as they outplayed NHT for a comfortable victory.
Orville Clarke scored the first goal in the 33rd minute when he volleyed a Marqueno Williams cross into the goal.
Better of play
They got their second goal in the 45th minute when Demar Edwards' shot was deflected by defender Damion Brown into his own net to give JNBS a 2-0 half- time lead. The second half started with NHT having the better of play, but JNBS got their third goal when Demar Jones beat two defenders and relayed to Edwards who scored.
The final will be played on Wednesday, August 31 at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club, Chalmers Avenue. Kick-off time is at 4 o'clock.
