Album Title: Next To You
Artiste: Edwin Yearwood
Release Date: September 13, 2005
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
YEARWOOD'S LATEST effort 'Next To You' is a mixture of soca and dancehall which provides listeners with the ultimate musical experience.
The album boasts 17 'feel good' tracks, including the dancehall-flavoured Take You With Me, which features Lady Saw, Best In Me featuring Mr. Lex, Sorry featuring CéCile and Lady's Night, featuring Morgan Heritage and Mr. MoJo.
His soca fans were not neglected however as All Aboard, Pump Me Up and Weekend are clearly done for their pleasure.
The album kicks off with Take You With Me, which has a saucy flavour. The track features Yearwood's smooth vocals as he tries to convince a raunchy Lady Saw to go with him wherever he goes.
It is the combination, however, of two soca giants, Yearwood and Bunji Garlin, that provides the most energy. The song, All Aboard, beckons to fans, "every man, woman and child" to join in the soca vibes and party the night away.
On this album, Yearwood has not only mixed dancehall successfully with soca, but he experiments well with a few R&B sound tracks such as Where Do We Go From Here?, Walk Away and Something Greater.
This album provides listeners from different backgrounds with music to which they can relate and enjoy.
