Third drop for unusual mangoes

This unusual Bombay bastard mango was found by Dawn McKenzie early one morning under her mango tree. - junior dowie

DAWN MCKENZIE WAS surprised early one morning when a loud thud awoke her from her sleep.

When she went outside to investigate, what she found was a mango that was unusually shaped.

McKenzie, who lives on Malborough Road in Kingston Gardens, says this unusually shaped fruit is the third to fall from her tree since last year. "This is not the first time I am seeing them, but this one is the biggest one so far," she told THE STAR.

She said three of the unusually shaped mangoes have been found, with each being bigger than the last.

The unusual fruits are not only weird but are bigger than a regular Bombay bastard mango.

McKenzie has no idea what could have caused the abnormal growth but says she will continue to monitor the tree for any other unusual fruits.

McKenzie says she will not eat the mango but will keep it for as long as she can.
