ELTHAM HIGH SCHOOL continued to perform well in the 2005 ISSA/Pepsi/JN Manning Cup after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Holy Trinity yesterday.
The game, played at Eltham, meant that the St. Catherine-based school now has a maximum nine points from three games and only trail group 'E' leaders, Bridgeport on goal difference.
Speaking of Bridgeport, they continued in winning fashion yesterday as well. Bridgeport are one of the few teams to look like favourites throughout the early part of this season, and won their game against St. Jago at the Spanish Town Prison Oval by a comfortable 3-0 margin.
In the meantime, Kingston College, who were favoured to come out of the group put themselves into more trouble when they failed to find a goal against Meadowbrook at the Meadowbrook playing field.
The 0-0 draw means that Meadowbrook sit at the bottom of the table with a point.
Kingston College aren't much better, as they are currently third with four points from their three games. Holy Trinity follow them with three points.
In Group 'C', St. Andrew Technical continued their good form as well, taking their record to three wins from as many games to lead the group.
They are followed closely by Clan Carthy, who produced their second win yesterday after a 1-0 win over Norman Manley. The Trench Town versus Penwood game was postponed because no referee turned up
The big story in Group 'A' involves defending champions Excelsior, who are yet to come up with a win.
After two games in the competition, Excelsior have three goals, which is a good average, if they could have found a way to split up those goals. Today they found themselves held by a stubborn Mona in a tough 1-1 draw that gives them two points from two games.
Those two points leave the defending champions precariously placed at third in the group behind Jamaica College and Kingston Technical.
Jamaica College, who lead the group with five points from three games failed to find a goal in a 0-0 draw with Kingston Technical yesterday.
The draw means that Kingston Technical now have four points from two games with a big match-up against Excelsior on Friday.
