DAYNEA DEACON, NICKNAMED 'The Diva' was far from being a loser when she exited the 2005 series of the Rising Stars Competition as she walked away with a cheque for $200,000, a Sonny Ericsson K750 mobile phone and $50,000 worth of call credit.
GREAT ACHIEVEMENT
"Coming third amongst six or seven thousand contestants is a great achievement and being the only female to make it thus far is also a great achievement. I'm really proud of myself and the other finalists," Deacon said.
The singer went on to speak of her moments in the competition. "My best times were really the performances on Sunday nights. I was always looking forward to those times, showing people my talent."
If there was one thing that Daynea could change about the Rising Stars Competition, she said it would be to have a specific theme for each performance show.
The results show held on Friday night at the Knutsford Court Hotel, saw the top three finalists, Noddy Virtue, Christopher Martin and Daynea Deacon performing songs that showcased their best efforts. Noddy Virtue with Many Rivers To Cross, Daynea with We Belong Together and Christopher Martin going old school with a Sam Cooke selection, Change Gonna Come.
Today the final results show will reveal the winner of the competition. The show will be held at The Emancipation Park in New Kingston.
