A MAN ACCUSED of fraudulent conversion on Tuesday begged the court to give him time to repay the money.
The accused, Andre Poorman from St. Catherine, said he had the money to give the complainant, however, he had put the money into his business which has since gone bankrupt.
However he said he was in the process of selling off the assets and would be able to pay the complainant the balance of her money.
Allegations are that on May 27, the accused was given $70,000 to make a deposit on a car and at a later date, was given an additional $10,000, bringing the total sum to $80,000.
No car
Poorman was unable to secure the car and was then asked to repay the $80,000 given to him. However he repaid the com-plainant $30,000 leaving a balance of $50,000.
As a show of good faith Poorman gave the complainant $10,000 when he appeared in court on Tuesday and Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle gave him until September 27 to repay the balance.
