'SUFFER LITTLE children and forbid them not, to come unto me: For such is the Kingdom of Heaven.' St. Matthew 19:14.
For any living human, taking the first step is wonderfully blessed, and such was the glee on the face of seven-month-old infant Nastasia Evans, who was dedicated to God at the Faith Temple New Testament Church of God in Bayside, Portmore, St Catherine on Sunday Sep-tember 18.
Reverend Ronald Blair presided over the brief ceremony that was held minutes before the preaching of the 'Word'.
Her mother Cassandra Ashmeade and father Pedro Evans joined in the occasion. Nastasia is actually the couple's second child as they have a two-year-old daughter Nathalea. Mr. Evans told LIFE&TIMES that he felt good about his daughter's christening, as "it's a blessing from God."
The couple, who resides in the Greater Portmore area, said that Faith Temple New Testament has always been their church. Nastasia's mom said that her daughter is unique because "she's quiet and she loves her sister dearly."
Tradition
She recalled that it's been smooth sailing with her second child from childbirth and for that she is thankful. Both Pedro and Cassandra were christened as babies and wanted to do the same with their daughter.
Dalton Beckford, Nastasia's grandfather, who was in attendance, said that this was his granddaughter's first step to God.
"The Bible states that you should train the child up the way they should grow, and when they become older they will never depart from the truth. This is the 'first step of Dedication', as (Jesus) Christ was dedicated in the temple eight days after his birth, so we as Christians should follow the same order," Beckford told LIFE&TIMES.
