A sign of shame?

Dear Pastor,

I live in the United States and I have been married for almost 10 years to a Jamaican. I was born in Honduras, but we met in the United States. My problem is that he has never shown any interest in taking me to his home country. I have gotten into many fights about why he never wants me to go to see where he grew up.

Sometimes he tells me that it is because Jamaica is dangerous. I am getting tired of his excuses. I sometimes think he is ashamed to have married a non-Jamaican. I know all his relatives so I know it is not a problem concerning other women.

Please help me understand this man. Thank you and bless you.

B.C.,

USA

Dear B. C.,

I hope your husband will take you to Jamaica. I don't know why he is making silly excuses for not taking you. Perhaps you should plan with members of his relatives to travel with them to Jamaica. A man is not res-ponsible for where he was born but he is responsible for the type of life he lives.

Pastor
