BOYS' TOWN'S MUCH heralded return to the Wray and Nephew National Premier League seems to be headed in the wrong direction.

A 1-2 defeat against Reno at the Spring Complex plunged the promoted team to eighth in the standings, deflating the hopes of Boys' Town faithfuls anticipating a better showing in the top league.

The win moved Reno to 12 points and sixth position, one above Village and two above the faltering 'Red Brigade', who have lost their last two games on the trot.

Poor defending and Fabian Blake's brace, in the 46th and 48th minutes of play, cancelled Michael Campbell's brilliant strike in time added to the first half.

Boys' Town made matters difficult for themselves when Campbell was shown the red card by referee Howard Stennett for violent conduct midway the second half.

Boys' Town looked the better team and could have gone ahead on a number of occasions.

After a good move down the left flank, Andre Wheeler played the ball back to Campbell but the striker pulled his shot wide of a vacant goal.

As if to make up for his folly, in the very next play, Campbell drove towards goal down the right flank and struck a ferocious shot into the far corner of Kingsley James' goal.

Boys' Town's dominance vanished in the second half, as Reno started shutting down the midfield, forcing Boys' Town to make mistakes.

A fact which was noted in no uncertain manner by their coach Andrew Price.

"Gross indiscipline set in. People weren't following instructions and doing what they wanted to on the field and we are going to take the necessary steps to correct it," he said angrily.

The first one came when their left-back misjudged the bounce of a ball that Blake ran on to. His exquisite finish from angle beat Philmore Crumbie to his near post.

The game was turned on its head in the 48th minute when Fabian Watkins lost the ball in the middle of the park.

A lightening fast counterattack ended with Blake again scoring from an angle, this time beating Crumbie to his far post with what seemed a tame shot.

Reno coach Bradley Stewart was one of the few happy faces at the Spring Complex.

"In terms of our overall objectives we are satisfied but it is a little bit disappointing that we haven't been getting points at home. The hope is that we'll continue to make improvements," he said.

Harbour View still lead the league with 21 points. Tivoli and Arnett Gardens follow, locked on 16 points.

Portmore United and Waterhouse are on 15 points with Portmore having a distinct edge in the goal difference department.
