TWO PORTMORE MEN, who were reportedly caught by police demanding money from motorists to pass through the flooded area of Christian Pen in St. Catherine last week Wednesday, have been arrested and charged, police tell THE PORTMORE STAR.
The men, who have been slapped with a charge of demanding money by menace, were arrested after they were observed collecting the money.
NAMES NOT RELEASED
Police have not released the names of the men, who have already appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, as they say they are investigating them in relation to other crimes which have been committed in the municipality.
Police reported that the men were caught about noon in the Christian Pen area by plain clothes policemen.
The men were seen collecting money from motorists to go through the water and those who did not want to pay were threatened. They were taken to the Caymanas Police Station where the charge was laid against them.
