Harding on a triple

BY JIMMIE, Star Racing Writer

LEFT BEHIND BY champion Trevor Simpson's four-timer last Saturday, challenger Brian Harding is expected to come roaring back by winning the first three events on this weekend's 11-race programme.

Harding, who opened last Saturday's programme two wins behind Simpson and pulled one off with a victory aboard JACK EM UP in the second event, was left eating the champions' dust in the next three races before Simpson added a fourth with KAMIR in the ninth race, extending his lead to five at the end of the day.

At the end of the meet, Harding said Saturday was Simpson's day, adding his time would come.

The Trinidadian's fans won't have to wait long as Harding looks set to boot home Wayne DaCosta's TASSY'S WHIP in the first at 1300 metres, fit YAHABIBI in the second at 1000 metres straight and improved-looking YA JUGEY in the third at 1300 metres.

TASSY'S WHIP renews rivalry with fellow American-bred DATING after trading victories against each other in their last two races.

However, DaCosta's filly appeared not to have enjoyed the figure-eight with which she was fitted early September when losing to DATING at 1200 metres. Returning minus the figure-eight a month ago, TASSY'S WHIP made all to convincingly beat her rival by a length at 1100 metres, not once appearing in doubt.

YAHABIBI, who finished less than six lengths behind unbeaten TIME OF MY LIFE at 1000 metres straight last week, should run away from $290,000 Claimers rivals at the distance in the second race.

JACKPOTS AT $1.5M

An afternoon riddled with winning favourites had form players revelling in the Super-6 and Pick-9. All of 414 winning Super-6 combinations were encashed, each worth $2,133. The Pick-9, for which there were 76 winning combinations, returned $13,158.

Both bets are back at their minimum guaranteed payouts with the $1million Pick-9 starting at the third race in which YA JUGEY with Harding aboard should come good.

Treated with lasix, YA JUGEY has looked improved at exercise and definitely showed signs of improvement when trainer Anthony Nunes fitted him with the blinkers for his last race.

Galloping in the equipment for the past two weeks, YA JUGEY worked with TWEEDSIDE, galloping five-and-a-half furlongs Monday morning in 1:08.3 and was clocked in 1:29.2 for seven furlongs the previous Tuesday.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 players can bank on Desmond Shand's HE AIN'T HEAVY to win Division one of the CTL Stable Riders' Race at 800 metres straight. The combination of Lenroy Collins, Shand and HE AIN'T HEAVY has already won the event twice, beating far better horses such as MOTHER OF PEARL.

HE AIN'T HEAVY even galloped 49.3 from the gate Tuesday morning, showing off his fitness and is expected to get the better of INSTRUMENTHAL.
