Man sentenced for chopping sister

BY ARTHUR GREEN, Star Writer:

ST. THOMAS

JUNIOR BYLES OF Hampton Court, St. Thomas, was last Thursday sentenced to 18 months in prison for chopping his sister with a machete after she chided him for being too friendly with a 15-year-old school girl.

A VERY BAD DAY

Constable Herbert Tulloch told the Morant Bay RM Court that Byles lost his job at a hardware store and was angry with his former employers. He said after coming home with the school girl, whom he picked up on his way from work, he was confronted by his sister who was not encouraging the relationship.

Byles' sister, Dorothy Ruddock, was chopped on the shoulder when she objected to her sibling taking the youngster home.

Byles, while offering an apology in court said he did not intend to hurt his sister.

The RM told Byles he will have time in jail to reflect on all the things he needed to think about long and hard.
