KEMAR WILLIAMS, A prisoner at the Santa Cruz police lock-up, hanged himself yesterday.
About 8:30 a.m. Williams, from Quick Step District, St. Elizabeth, wrapped a foot of his pants around his neck and then tied the other foot to a steel bar in the cell and hung himself.
Williams was taken into custody on Saturday on a charge of cruelty to animals. He had also threatened to kill his parents.
Allegations are that Williams cut the throat of a goat belonging to his parents after which he cut off one foot and started roasting it. His parents said Williams is of unsound mind and was being treated at the psychiatric department at the Black River Hospital. But for some time they were unable to get him to attend the institution for treatment.
When he was asked by the police to why he killed the goat he told them that he "is evil and he feel to do something evil". He was scheduled to appear in the Santa Cruz RM Court today.
