Woman on unlawful wounding charge returns to court Dec 21

A PORTMORE WOMAN accused of using a pen to stab her brother-in-law several times will return to court on December 21, where her case will be mentioned.

Answering to the charge of unlawful wounding is Zella McKenzie, 40, from Westport.

The court was told that on October 20, McKenzie and her brother-in-law had a dispute about her daughter not having any manners. The brother-in-law is said to have walked behind her to another section of the house.

The court further heard that he was later attacked and stabbed in his face with the pen several times. He was taken to the Bridgeport Police Station, where a piece of the pen was taken from his face, and then to hospital. McKenzie was subsequently charged.

She pleaded not guilty last week and told the RM she was provoked and had to defend herself. Her bail was extended. She was not represented.
