PRESIDENT OF THE Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League Charles Simpson has expressed deep sympathy to the family of the late policeman Deancourt Wright who was slain in Central Village last Sunday morning.
Players and coaches of the same cop, who was stationed at the Greater Portmore Police Station, were on Hellshire beach last Sunday in solidarity with Mr. Wright, a jovial cricketer on and off the cricket pitch.
Deancourt Wright, 39, is a former batsman on the Police Senior Cup team and also former top player for the Elevation Sports Club Cricket team who are favourites to take the Petcom Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League title.
Wright is the only centurion in this year's league. "Dean was a good batsman and is a great loss to the league," Simpson told THE PORTMORE STAR. In respect to the former cricketer the semi finals of the Portmore Cricket League was postponed last Sunday and will be played today at 11:00 a.m at the Bridgeport Sports Ground and Waterford playing field.
In today's semi-final Portsmouth travel to Waterford to take on the home team, while in the second semi-final favourites Elevation entertain Hamilton Gardens at the Bridgeport Sport ground. The teams are playing for the Tony Becca Cup.
