Police confident of a breakthrough

THE ST. MARY police are confident that they will make a breakthrough soon in the murder of 58-year-old Dorothy Coy who was stabbed to death a week ago.

Coy, a helper from Jacks River in St. Mary, was stabbed to death during what is believed to be a robbery attempt while at the home where she worked in Castle Gardens in the parish. The police said she was found with multiple stab wounds at the house on November 10.

When contacted, the St. Mary police said as the investigations were going well and they were following several strong leads. They said they were still gathering evidence to help them solve the murder.

According to police reports, Coy was found at 11:00 a.m. inside the house where she worked.

Investigators say the house was ransacked and a number of appliances were discovered missing. It is believed that her attackers gained entry into the house through an open door. A number of stolen items were later found in bushes near the house.
