$9m boost for STETHS

ST. ELIZABETH TECHNICAL High School's (STETHS) sports programme got a whopping $9m boost last Friday from the Digicel Foundation.

Chairman of the Foundation, Harry Smith, handed over the cheque to STETHS' vice-principal Keith Wellington.

The money will go towards upgrading the school's sporting facilities, which includes work on resurfacing the running track and cricket pitch. It will also be used to build a gym, multipurpose courts, and seating. There are also plans to erect a long jump pit and to relocate the dormitory.

The money to be spent over six months, will also help to upgrade the school farm. Earnings from the farm will be used to assist with the school's feeding programme.

Smith who is also Commercial Director at Digicel said the wider St. Elizabeth community will benefit from this upgrading.

"Digicel Foundation is happy that it can play a role in enhancing life for the St. Elizabeth community who will use these facilities. We know it is based here at STETHS, but the impact is on the wider St. Elizabeth community and environs that use these facilities," he said.

Smith also invited applications for assistance from other institutions who need help.
