THE POLICEMAN WHO was stabbed in the face and other sections of his body while trying to apprehend a wanted man in New Kingston last Wednesday has been released from the hospital.
The police was released shortly after the incident and is said to be recuperating at home.
According to police reports, the police constable was stabbed in the face as well as other sections of his body after trying to arrest Cleonore Graham, 28, of Torrington Park in Kingston.
The Half-Way Tree police report that the policeman and another officer were on duty in New Kingston along Knutsford Boulevard when they were tipped off that Graham who was wanted for murder was in the area. They reportedly got a description of the wanted man and went looking for him. The police say that when they arrived at the location, they saw someone fitting the description, but the person ran when he saw the police.
Graham is reported to have ran unto Trinidad Terrace where he was cornered. It is alleged that he pulled a ratchet knife and stabbed the policeman in his face and other parts of his body.
The injured policeman and his colleague pulled their guns and fired at Graham hitting him. He died on the spot.
