POLICE IN KINGSTON and St. James are now investigating two murders which occurred in their divisions on Saturday.
The St. Andrew South police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Marlon Burford, 28, and the shooting of two other men, ages 23 and 31, all from Majesty Gardens.
Police say about 12:30 p.m., the men were among a group of persons on the Majesty Gardens main road, when they were approached by a group of men, armed with guns.
The gunmen immediately opened fire hitting the three men before escaping on foot in the area. The injured men were taken to hospital where Burford was pronounced dead and the others treated.
Meanwhile, the Montego Bay police are investigating the death of a couple and the burning of their house in Sammy Bush district, Norwood, St. James.
Dead are Patrick Jones, 33, and his common-law wife, Doreen Perry, 24.
The police report that at 3:00 a.m. a group of gunmen went to the couple's house, shot them, then set their house on fire. Police and the fire brigade were alerted and two units from Ironshore and Montego Bay Fire departments extinguished the blaze. The burnt remains of the couple were found in the rubble and removed to the morgue for post mortem. Loss is estimated at $300,000.
