REVEREND ORANE ELLIS, a pastor charged with sexually molesting girls from a Children's Home, pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault when he appeared in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate's Court last week.
Ellis, who is charged with 10 counts of sexual offences will be sentenced on January 27, 2006 after his attorney asked that a social enquiry be done into his background.
Accusations from the police from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse(CISOCA) are that between October 28 and November 3 of this year Reverend Ellis whose church is located next to the Yadel's Children's Home in Banister, St Catherine, on at least two occasions sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
On other occasions it is alleged that the clergyman fondled eight other girls between the ages of 14 - 18 and pushed his tongue down their throats. The offences were reportedly committed during heavy rains when he went there to counsel the children.
The court also learnt that Ellis, who is 22 years old, had only taken up his position as a pastor on October 6, barely a month before the offences were committed. It was revealed in court by his attorney Sean Kinghorn that after a meeting with the police the clergyman had in fact admitted to having sex with at least one of the girls.
When the matter first came to before Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle in November, Ellis was chastised for his actions as he had led the children astray. He will stand trial and preliminary enquiry for five counts of indecent assault and two counts of carnal abuse on February 2.
