JAMAICA'S PAN AMERICAN Junior Championships gold medallist, Latoya Greaves, is already blowing up a storm in the United States.
The former Queens High School athlete raced to a record 8.41 seconds victory over the 60m hurdles at last weekend's KSU All-Comers Indoor Meet held at the Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan.
Greaves' time bettered the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) provisional record of 8.43 seconds. In racing to the new mark, Greaves left in her wake fellow Jamaican and Oklahoma Baptise University teammate, Nickeisha Wilson, who was second in 8.53 seconds.
In the women's 400m, Wilson, the reigning Pan American Junior Championships 400m hurdles champion, won her pet event, the 400m hurdles, in 55.89 seconds.
Portland State's Femi Kehinde (57.72) and Donniece Parrish of Kansas State (57.06) were second and third respectively.
