TITLE-HOLDERS JAMAICA opened their account with a fluent win over Trinidad and Tobago at the 7th Caribbean Netball Association (CNA) Under-16 tournament on Sunday night at the Netball City, Warner Park.

Barbados and hosts St. Kitts completed back-to-back wins. Barbados whipped Dominica 33-14, and St. Kitts defeated former champions St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) 28-22.

The Jamaicans, who have won all five regional youth tournaments they have contested, topped T&T 30-21 in their game.

On the back of goal attack Vanessa Walker (18/31) and Danielle Ellis (12/17), Jamaica kept control of the game and held T&T at bay, leading the quarters 9-5, 17-10, 23-16 en route to their nine-goal victory.

Jolisa Cooper (15/30) and K'lene Lewis (6/11) led t T&T scoring.

Yesterday, Jamaica were down to face Dominica. In other games, St Kitts and Barbados were due to clash and SVG should have tackled Grenada.

St. Kitts handed former champions SVG their second defeat in as many nights when shooter Ronel Morton (21/28) and goal attack Sherima Stanley (7/12) carried them to the six-goal win.

The Kittitians fell just below the 31 points they collected to beat Grenada on opening night, but were steady and shrugged off the 1999 champions with quarterly leads of 6-5, 12-9, and 21-16.

SVG got their goals from Austina Kydd (13/17) and Shalisa Davis (9/15)

Showing themselves as one of the tournament favourites, Barbados jumped into a solid 9-3 first quarter advantage and led the remaining frames 17-7 and 24-12 en route to easily dismissing Dominica by 19 goals.

Goal attack Shanice Banfield netted a game-high 20 goals from 38 attempts to lead the Barbadians, who had knocked off T&T in their opening game on Saturday night.

Abeje Carrington (12/26) and captain Shakira Springer (1/3) were the other scorers for Barbados.
