IT WAS A hero-like welcome for Senior Superintendent Reneto Adams at a party held in his honour at Job Lane, Spanish Town, on Tuesday night.
At approximately midnight, there were scores of persons dancing up a storm to Stone Love's music. Amidst the celebration, the man of the moment walked in dapperly dressed to shouts and handclaps while the sounds of Sizzla's voice echoed "caan keep a good man down" through the speakers. The alcoholic beverages flowed freely and persons wasted no time in enjoying the moment.
The exploits of the top crime fighter and the ordeal he underwent during the trial were spoken of and seemed to have helped to intensify the partying mood. Songs such as Anthony B's Good Cop Bad Cop, Peter Tosh's Glass House " and Adams' favourite, It soon Be Done were greeted with applause from the crowd.
MISSING THE STREETS
Amidst all the celebration, the tough crime fighter took time out to say something to criminals. "Having seen the love of the Jamaican people, it would be remiss of me not to want to serve them, if I am given the chance, as crime and violence is not on my book."
He later told THE STAR that he missed crime fighting during his interdiction. "Crime fighting has become a part of me and it would not be prudent for me to say, I did not miss being on the streets. And for those of my detractors who tried to keep me down, I have forgiven them."
It was a night to remember and each time the Senior Superintendent made an attempt to exit the venue, his well-wishers ensured that he had to return. Even into the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the party continued and the celebrations eventually flowed out onto Jobs Lane, halting traffic.
At minutes after 3:00 a.m., persons were still pouring into what could have been called an Adams' Jamboree.
