Experience Valentino

Bobby Valentino - CONTRIBUTED

BOBBY VALENTINO WILL be in Jamaica for the first time and the young R&B sensation is pumped up about it. The occasion will be the 'Smirnoff Lose Yourself in the Experience' party, which will be held at the Palisadoes go-kart track tomorrow.

In a phone interview with THE STAR on Tuesday the R&B singer indicated that he was delighted to be invited to perform in Jamaica.

"I am definitely excited about performing in Jamaica, especially since I have never been there before," he said as excitement surged in his voice. "My parents are regular visitors to Jamaica and they usually tell me about the dance moves, and purchase lots of Jamaican art."

Although Bobby Valentino doesn't know the name of any of the dance moves, the singer is guessing that he will be able to do a few of them and is also pleased to know that he will be sharing the stage with Sean Paul.

"Sean Paul is a major artiste here (in the United States) and I think it is going to be good performing on the same stage with him," he said.

Bobby Valentino's career began to take off in the mid 2005 after he released his first solo single Slow Down, and then went on to score big again with Tell Me. This success came years after the artiste parted with his then group Mista.

According to Valentino the split from Mista has worked in his favour as now he is more focused.

"Me and the other members of Mista are still cool. I am happy with the split-up though as now I am more focused and what you find is that whenever you work as an individual your destiny is in your hands, whereas when you work with a group your destiny is in their hands also," he explained.

"My focus at this time is to ensure that I perform well in Jamaica. I heard that Jamaicans have a great vibe and I am hoping to enjoy this."

When queried what he was expecting when he lands in Jamaica, he said: "I am just expecting to have a good time and hopefully meet some Jamaican women."
