Nephew remanded for assault

BY TASHIEKA MAIR, STAR Writer

WESTERN BUREAU:

A 22-YEAR-old man charged with using a stone to damage his uncle's eyes and knocking out several of his teeth, was remanded in custody until January 6 when his case will be mentioned again in the Montego Bay Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Omar McLean, a resident of Cambridge in St. James, is facing a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm. He was also instructed by RM Wilson Smith to settle his legal representation by the scheduled court date.

Allegations are that the complainant, his uncle, was wounded on December 3, when he intervened in an argument between McLean and his brother.

It is said that McLean threw a stone at the complainant, who then fell to the ground after which a building block was used to hit him on the left side of his face damaging his eyes and extracting four teeth. The uncle was hospitalised for four days.
