Dear Pastor,
I have a problem. I am 21-years-old and I have a son who is one-year-old. The problem is that my son's father doesn't work often in Jamaica. I am in Florida and he is in Jamaica with my son. He has to pay the lady who is taking care of our son $Ja3,000. He also has to buy pampers and formula for our son. He owes $Ja5,000 for his partner. He is in a lot of debts, but I will be going to Jamaica soon.
Every time I call him, something is always wrong. He says his cellular phone is not working and he doesn't have any shoes to wear. Pastor, I am stressed out; everyday I sit and cry about the matter. I am not working because it's hard to get a job in America without your right papers or your social security number.

Dear N.F.,
Everybody has problems. Your boyfriend is not immune to problems. Why did he join a partner and he does not have a steady job? Some people put themselves into trouble when such trouble could have been avoided.
This man has made crosses for himself and he has to get out on his own. If he cannot afford to buy a pair of shoes right now, he has to learn to wear slippers until he is in a position to buy a pair of shoes. He doesn't have to own a cellular phone. It would be good if he had one, but he can do without one until he is able to support himself.
Good men don't complain to their women about hard times. They do everything in their power to get jobs, even if it means doing a little hustling in buying and selling, cutting lawns, doing days work in a man's field, etc. I am afraid that your man may be living too high. He is hanging his hat where he can't reach it.
You should return to Jamaica and take care of your child. You can't make it in America; come home.
Pastor
