50-y-o on ganja rap granted bail
A FIFTY-YEAR-OLD man who was caught with over 435 lbs of compressed marijuana, was granted bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Delroy James, otherwise called 'Builder', was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 with up to three sureties. James appeared before RM Martin Gayle to answer to charges of conspiracy, possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export marijuana. Reports are that on November 27, at around 8:30 a.m., a White Toyota Caldina motor car was intercepted along Surbiton Road, Kingston 10. The vehicle was searched and 12 white knitted bags and two green bags containing compressed ganja were found. Two men, Karl Charlton and Orville Pinnock, were arrested and charged. Upon further investigations, surveillance and interviews, James was arrested. It is also alleged that the three conspired to export the substance. James, a producer/promoter, will have to report to the Constant Spring Police three times per week and must surrender his travel documents as part of his bail agreement. Charlton and Pinnock were granted bail when they appeared before RM Gayle, last year. The men are to reappear in court tomorrow.
