Orientation School Party

Patrons show off their school affiliations at Orientation party held at Weekenz on Friday. - IAN ALLEN PHOTOS

The tempo was again switched as the selectors decided it was time to introduce hip hop music. Nelly's Hot In Here, Akon's Lonely, Nelly and Kelly's Dilemma and Sizzla and Foxy Brown's Come Fly With Me were among the songs played in this segment.

As the night crept away, the selectors made their way back to the softer side of dancehall, as cultural tunes and reggae one-drop tunes like Serious Times by Gyptian, Blood Again by Richie Spice and Footprints by TOK were played.

By 3:00 a.m., inside Weekenz was buzzing with excitement as a range of artistes who were in the venue appeared to be eager to deliver their contribution to the party on the stage. Artistes such as Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Spragga Benz, Busy Signal, Assassin, Turbulence, Kiprich, Monster Twins, Alozade, Voicemail and others were all spotted among the crowd.

At approximately 3:10 a.m., Turbulence took the stage and in his usual fashion, brought high energy to the stage, as he spat a couple hardcore lyrics, before toning down with songs like Natty Pon Di Front Line, We've Got The Love and Name And Number.

As the MC attempted to sort out with the promoters the next artiste to appear on stage, Monster Twins made the most of the opportunity and presented themselves on the stage and excited the crowd with their latest single Di Gyal Dem Need Wi.

That would turn out to be the last bit of excitement for the Orientation party, as the police swooped down on the stage and ordered that the show be brought to an end at 3:20 a.m.
