IT IS A new year and a new way of living for Allison Hamilton.

While many were celebrating by bursting fire crackers, gulping down or spraying the most expensive champagne at posh New Year's Eve parties, 34-year-old Hamilton was busy getting converted to Christianity and dedicating her life to Jesus through baptism at the Newland Evange-listic Association in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Hamilton was one of several persons who made the important move.

EASY DECISION

"I chose to give myself to Christ because God has been good to me for a lot of years so I decide to serve him now," Hamilton said. She further said that her decision was an easy one as she had been attending this church for some time and was preparing for the baptism.

Hamilton also got married at the church about a month ago. "My husband supports me all the way; he is from a God-fearing family, a family that goes to church regularly," she said. She declared a sound warning to all sinners. "All sinners the time is now (to give yourself to the Lord) ... out there is serious, you have to do it while you are living."

Bishop Elijah Thomas, head pastor of the church, presided over the brief ceremony and invited other persons to join the baptism group as the time of the Lord is near.

When Mrs. Hamilton was dipped in the baptism pool by Ransford Hamilton and exalter Desmond Thompson, this signalled a brand new path for the Portsmouth resident as she started the year not knowing much about God, and ended the year on an high giving her soul to God.

The congregation later welcomed the New Year by giving praise to the Almighty.
