Ruth Potopsingh - CONTRIBUTED

AS OF JANUARY 1, 2006 Mrs. Ruth Potopsingh deputy group managing director of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) assumed the chief executive position in the Corporation.

She replaces the former Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Wright who has retired but is being retained in a consultancy capacity in the organisation.

Both management shifts were announced recently by Dr. John Cooke, chairman of the PCJ who said that Mrs. Potopsingh who has held the deputy managing director's post for the past nine years had on several occasions acted in the higher post.

QUALIFIED

He said that prior to joining the PCJ Mrs. Potopsingh worked in senior management positions in the Town Planning Department and the Jamaica Bauxite Institute.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and a Diploma in Education (UWI) as well as a Master of Science in Urban Development Planning (Distinction) from the University College (London) and an Executive MBA (UWI). In addition Mrs. Potopsingh recently concluded her doctoral studies at the University of Surrey (United Kingdom and UWI Mona).

In announcing Mrs. Potopsingh's appointment Dr. Cooke said she is a competent executive with the breadth of experience and technical expertise that will allow her to make timely decisions and take appropriate actions that will enable her to effectively lead the Corporation during this period of Jamaica's development.

Dr. Cooke has also expressed the organization's appreciation for the sterling contribution Dr. Wright made to the PCJ and said he was delighted that Dr. Wright had consented to make his wise counsel and vast experience available to the organisation on a consultancy basis.
