THE STAKES AREhigh, plus bragging rights are plenty, to see who is the best major league team in St. Catherine, as Portmore's best, Newland Football Club, battles DB Basovak of Homestead, Spanish Town in the Juiciful-sponsored St. Catherine Football mid-season final tomorrow afternoon at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. Match time is 3:00 p.m.

Newland is coming off a 3-0 win over strugglers Southborough to lead the league on 15 points from five games, while DB Basovak lost 1-0 to a resurgent Independence City last Saturday, in a rescheduled fixture, to be second on 12 points.
Newland's head coach Michael Small said that the key to winning this game lies in a good mental approach. "I think it is more of a brain game than anything else. We just have to sit down with the players and make them understand the mental aspects of the game," coach Small said. "I think that it will be a very tense game. They (DB Basovak) have very good players and use good strategies. We need to just sit down and assess how we are going to play them."
Manager of the DB Basovak team Denzil Hammond, says his team is ready to play.
"Literally we aren't taking any prisoners ... We are at our peak just now. Apart from our captain being out with an injury, we basically have a strong team, we have a good strike force with Chris Howell upfront," he said. "We are solid at the back, with Milton Williams and Andre Forbes as the two key players, and in mid-field, Anthony Laing and Sheldon Scott should give the fowards plenty of balls."
