A driver's apology
THE EDITOR, Madam: Please forgive me when it rains. I am publicly asking for forgiveness, for every motorist who drives, and splashes up dirty water on every male, female, adolescent and child. Whenever it is raining and water is on the road, almost every motorist, after splashing and soiling the people's faces and clothing, feels badly after the fact. I remember one Sunday afternoon, a middle aged man coming from church, got splashed by the motorist ahead of me, Well! The poor man became so angry that he picked up a huge rock stone, and just as I was approaching him, he started to curse and threaten that if he gets one more splash, he was seriously going to do some damage today. Needless to say, my heart immediately went out to this poor man, and of course not wanting a damaged windshield, or a bus head, I then slowly moved my car more and more into the street, and believe me it took me a slow, slow time to drive away. Sidewalk users please do not believe that driver's derive any pleasure from wetting, and splashing you when driving. I am here to tell you we do not. Whenever I find myself GUILTY of this act, trust me I feel really, really bad. To the lady on Mannings Hill Road decked out in her beautiful white Sunday best on her way to church in 2005, remember how badly you got splashed that you started to curse? Well; for this I humbly apologise. Sidewalk users all over Jamaica, please forgive all driver's for splashing you whenever it rains. We are truly sorry. I am, etc., N. Deloris Crosse Favors Highland Drive St. Andrew.
