A man who was before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on a charge of fraudulent conversion, on Monday, had the charge against him dropped after he repaid the complainant in full.
Rohan Harding, 34, of Bogue in St. James, pleaded not guilty to the charge and told the court that he had the money to pay the complainant in full.
The allegations outlined in court are that some time in September of last year, the complainant entered into an arrangement with Mr. Harding. It was further alleged that the complainant paid the accused $125,000 for a printer and a laptop.
The complainant received the printer but not the laptop and alleged that each time he confronted Harding about it he was fed with excuses. As a result, he reported the matter to the police.
Mr. Harding told RM Winsome that he had not conned the complainant. He said that he sent the money to his connections overseas and was awaiting the arrival of the laptop but was having difficulty.
He paid the complainant the balance of $99,200 for the cost of the laptop.
