The Editor:
There is much hype on the PSOJ debate for the aspirants for the top job of Prime Minister. Only a very, very small group of persons who are members of the PNP are eligible to select the next Prime Minister of Jamaica to complete the current term of office. Whether an aspirant enters or does not enter the debate does not really make a difference to the majority of us who really do not have a say in the election of who should complete the current term.
So is this debate to prove who is linguistically endowed? Isn't it true that all are of the same ilk and are all singing the same tune except that the wording will be different?
How many of us will listen to the debate and change our minds and go out and vote for the party that one thinks will be better for the country? None of the aspirants will say anything to damage the party.
Are we to believe that a person who does well in a debate will make a better Prime Minister?
