PEPSI COLA JAMAICA recently presented two high schools with cheques valued at $500,000. The awards are expected to go a long way in helping the schools, Ardenne High and St. Catherine High, to break ground on projects they have been longing to implement.
The schools received the awards for achieving excellent results in the 2005 Pepsi Club Model Store and Schools programme. The use of the funds will be determined co-operatively by the schools and Pepsi.
The programme is open to all schools and provides them with the chance to earn various awards based on their sale of Pepsi products. Ardenne High won for achieving the highest percentage growth in sales, while St. Catherine won for having the highest volume of sales of Pepsi products. The products sold include Pepsi, Ting, Gatorade and Essential Water. According to Denise Dixon, Pepsi's Marketing Manager , "there are always many pressing needs at the schools, and we are pleased to be able to help."
Both schools say the award will assist greatly in helping them to work on various school projects. Jacqueline Pinto, Principal at Ardenne High, said, "There are a number of projects that the school has been looking at doing. This award will come in very handy. "
St. Catherine's principal also has big plans for the cash. "We will be able to purchase computers and use the money to fix up the school and purchase equipment for our various sports programmes."
